Educational system for Dera Ghazi khan was established independently in 1989. It was only due to the hard work of Education Minister of Punjab who strived hard to provide students of Dera Ghazi Khan Division with educational system. Jurisdiction of this board consists of following districts Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layah and Rajanpur. Initially there was no office constructed therefore board office was established in government office. Foundation of Boards main campus was laid down by Lt. General (Rtd) Khalid Maqbool on 12.March.2002 he was Governor of Punjab, board’s office is located on Mustafa Chowk, Multan Road Dera Ghazi Khan.
Syllabus and Schedules are designed by Government of Punjab and text books of Punjab Text book board are used that are most authentic and revised time to time. Professional teachers are appointed for teaching students, paper pattern consist of three parts Section A, B and C. It consist of MCQ’s, short question and theory based questions. Many government and private institutions are affiliated with Dera Ghazi Khan board, those are run and administrated by officers from board office.

Chairman and other administrative body is working day and night to bring changes with modern world and to provide students with all facilities polishing students capabilities and arranging work shop for teachers. Subject and groups for students to select are Science and Arts at matriculation level and Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Computer Science, Commerce, General Science and Arts at intermediate level. BISE Dera Ismail Khan board has also set criterion for students appearing in their board.
All students of SSC and HSSC are required to be registered with board. Examination are held neglecting favoritism and with fair marking after the announcement of result for matriculation in July and intermediate in August awards, scholarships and medals are granted to students appreciating their skills. It also offers facility to deaf and dumb students to appear in examinations to bring up their skills by providing them facilities to attempt examination easily. Admissions are scheduled two months before the commencement of exams inspite of it online registration facility is also available that makes easy for students to register not only this, but also result is announced online by inserting name or roll number student can get its result.
