Dera Ghazi khan is located in the Punjab and there are many other regions and small cities those are affiliated with the city. This city is not so developed but government is trying to improve it time to time. There is need to basic needs to be fulfilled that is education too as people need their children now a days to gain education as old trends are changed when people didn’t prefer education and they made their children work from such tender ages. Therefore in the year 1989 board was formed that was due to hard work and also the enthusiasm of a very well-known person who is founder of the board Lt. General (Rtd) Khalid Maqbool on 12 March 2002 he was Governor of Punjab, this board was not having its office in the past but then it was formed at Mustafa Chowk, Multan Road DG Khan.

This board works at and aims to conduct examination for 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th and many students appear in them. This board has relation with Punjab education commission that is formed with the main purpose to manage and control the examination those are for 5th and 8th class these board examinations are not compulsory but many students appear in them for practice to be done. This board has many other areas those are functioning under it those areas are Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah and Rajanpur.

There are many students those who appear in the board as regular and other as private students in examination as examination for HSSC that is higher secondary school certificate will be conducted in the month of April and May and there are many students those who appear in these examination after these examinations they wait for results as that will be declared by the board in the month of august and September and that will be on the official website of the board that time is very near and students will be excited too for the results to be declared.

Board also conducts registration that is for examination and after that roll number slips and date sheets are provided to students.
