Dera ghazi khan is less developed area as it is a city there are many people who are living and carrying out their life in a good way but there were not much facilities provided in the past. In the past it was not trend that is to spread education so students those who wanted to gain education they were to go out of cities for education that was causing great problem. Then in the year 1989 board was formed by the government and this board was named as board of intermediate and secondary education DG khan this board was formed and its foundation was laid down by the very well-known person Lt. General (Rtd) Khalid Maqbool on 12.March.2002 he was Governor of Punjab, it was his hard work that the board was formed.

This board has main purpose that is very important and it focuses at conducting examination those are for 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th , 11th and 12th class examination and after that providing students with certificates. This board is spread too vast and its jurisdiction consist of many districts and areas those are as following Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah and Rajanpur. Punjab education commission that is PEC was formed is the year 2005 that was having the main purpose that is to manage and conduct the examination those are for 5th and 8th class and after that providing students with certificates.

Board has many government and private schools those are affiliated with the board and they are running after its rules and regulations. This board conducts its examination those are for SSC examination that is secondary school certificate and consists of two parts that is part I and part II 9th and 10th class examination they are conducted in the month of March and April many students appear as regular and other as private students.
